The Great 7 Stanes Challenge - Kirkwood

The Great 7 Stanes Challenge

Have You Got What it Takes?

Are you a mountain biker with a taste for adventure?  Have you got what it takes to tackle all the world famous 7stanes in just seven days? ….. Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 April 2011.
If so then this is the challenge for you.

Over the course of the week you’ll ride each of the 7stanes from Glentrool in the west to Newcastleton in the East.

Glentrool – a gentle ride on the Big Country route, 58k of green and blue graded trails with testing climbs leading to magnificent wide open views

Kirroughtree - home to some of the very best single track in the country including the red graded Twister, a 17km physically demanding loop with some real technical challenges

Dalbeattie – don’t be deceived by its relaxed feel and coastal setting - the rough terrain is home to The Slab, the Terrible Twins and Volunteer Ridge

Mabie - fly ‘round the Phoenix, a classic trial with testing climbs, fast descents, berms and water splashes.  Or the Kona Dark Side 3.8km orange bike park graded trail with elevated wooden sections and loads of granite outcrops – one for the experts.

Ae - 13.5km of green and blue graded trail, the red-graded Ae Line – Scottish Power Renewables Trail, an aggressive freestyle ride and The Shredder , an orange bike park-graded downhill ride.

Glentress and Innerleithen – they share a stane and an awesome reputation for having some of the best mountain biking around including some great downhill, freeride and the red-graded XC route.

Newcastleton – it’s got the lot including a 16km red route with fast, narrow singletrack crossing bridge and boardwalks.
