Cliffhanger

Where will it Snow this Summer?

Prepare yourselves for unseasonable weather as 30 tonnes of snow is set to fall in the middle of July at Cliffhanger!

SNO!zone, the indoor real snowsports centre at  Xscape Castleford, is turning part of the park into a winter wonderland by building a real snow slope with freestyle rail lines. Top professional snowboarders and skiers will be performing gravity defying tricks at the event, which also includes a live DJ set, family entertainment and the chance to win lots of prizes.

In addition the Cliffhanger will play host to the British Bouldering Championships (the UK’s finest rock climbers battling it out on a purpose built mega-wall), an orient style UltraSprint orienteering competition and open event, Mountain Bike trials displays by Ben Slinger, Scuba Diving instruction, an on-site North-Shore Mountain Bike course, an open Skateboarding contest, come-and-try-it Climbing Walls and assault courses, Angling coaching, a heap of demonstrations, and loads of outdoor bargains. Once you’ve paid your £5 to get in virtually everything is FREE! What are you waiting for? Get the dates in your diary. July 12th and 13th, Millhouses Park, Sheffield. www.cliff-hanger.co.uk for more info, including plenty of information on local accommodation, and how to get there on public transport, on your bike or by foot.

Here are a few quotes form visitors last year:

From the exit forms - What did you like about Cliffhanger? Feel of the event, liked everything, family atmosphere, feel and mix of events, free stuff, fun stuff for kids, good location, good spectator points, high spirits, cinema tent, all the climbing, hot chocolate, lots to see and do, not previously our thing – now inspired!

I missed sat due to work (bugger) sounds like it was ace. Went today though with the family and we had a top time. The wife and kids loved it even though it was raining, the bouldering comp was brilliant (I wish I could climb as good as those kids) and we got some great bargains in the tents.

If you didn’t make it last year check out the video of the weekend.
