Route Photo Drummond Hill

This is an alternative route starting from the Mains Brae. It is recommended to do the hard work at the start of the route by turning right up the steep hill 400m from the start: this will give a total of 15 minutes of reasonably hard climbing followed by a long level mid-section and a leisurely long descent with stunning views. On the downhill road, watch for boulders and small stumps which may cause problems. Follow the white bands on the black poles. If you feel like punishing yourself further, the final section of the red route is still open and can be accessed by going back up Mains Brae (at ‘Viewpoint’ sign) then diagonally across the crossroads at the top, picking up the red banded marker posts after a few hundred metres. Once off the single track, turn left along the forest road, turn left at the forest walk way-marker, continue down the hill and return to the car park via the county road.
